It's the biggest golf event I've been involved in and I've found it hard in the last couple of months trying to focus and stay in the present.

Apart from a caddy getting my name wrong and calling me Chris it's been a great start to my first PGA Cup week.

Since making the team back in July I've been counting down the days and I can't quite believe that it's finally arrived.

I remember watching a bit about it on TV and hearing guys talk about it but I didn't realise quite how big a thing it was until I qualified. I've since been reading up on the whole history of the event, about the Llandudno Trophy and how it belonged to Gary's grandfather and the whole nine yards.

It's the biggest golf event I've been involved in by a stretch and I've found it hard in the last couple of months in regular tournaments trying to focus and stay in the present which is what I'm normally good at. Everything has been geared towards the PGA Cup so I'm glad it's finally here.

Mind you, it takes some getting used to. It was weird driving into The Carrick car park and seeing a reserved spot and a special sign with your name on - it's quite hard to take in.

As the only Scot in the team I don't know the others quite as well and it was quite daunting when I first arrived on Monday. I live the closest but somehow managed to arrive last but we went out in the afternoon and played nine holes which was a good icebreaker.
