PGA CUP EXPERIENCE: 2005 and'07 (W3 L5 H2)
Set to be a key figure in the US team, he has made two previous PGA Cup appearances and comes into the event as reigning PGA Professional National Champion - the title he also lifted title in 2005.
Small has played in three US Opens and played the US Tour in 1998 with a best place of ninth in the Bell Canadian Open. He has also competed on the former Nike Tour where he won the 1997 Monterey Open and Cleveland Open. Other wins include seven Illinois PGA titles and four Illinois Opens.
Away from the course he is also established as a leading coach and this year guided the University of Illinois to its first Big Ten Conference championship since 1988 when Small was a team member with current Tour star Steve Stricker.
In 2009 he was named Big Ten Coach of the Year having steered his team to the NCAA Championships for the fourth time in the past seven seasons.
He has four holes-in-one and lists fishing and NCAA sports among his interest.
