PGA CUP EXPERIENCE: 2007 (W1 L0 H3)

Scored decisive half point to regain the PGA Cup for America when he battled back from dormie three against Paul Wesselingh at Reynolds Plantation in Georgia.

The 30-year-old achieved the half by hitting a three-wood to six feet on 18 to set up a birdie on the Oconee course - the first time the final hole had been birdied all week.

Undefeated in four outings in his first PGA Cup match, he brings steely resolve to the matches and he's definitely to be wary of for Gary Alliss's team.

Benzel has been a consistent performer in PGA Professional National Championship with a best of tied second in 2007. He also made the cut at the 2007 USPGA Championship at the difficult Southern Hills.

Has a clutch of victories under his belt including Washington State PGA Match Play Championship titles in 2005 & 06.

Boasts two holes-in-one and lists interests as snow skiing, fly fishing, family camping trips and spending time with family.
