PAUL WESSELINGH, 47
Head Professional
Kedleston Park Golf Club
Derbyshire, England
PGA CUP EXPERIENCE: 1998, 2000, '03, '05, '07 and '09 (W12 L11 H6)
Paul Wesselingh will be making his sixth successive appearance since his debut in 1998. Only four other men have contested more PGA Cups (David Huish and Russell Weir - both eight - and David Jones and Brian Waites - seven apiece).
Wesselingh is as passionate about the PGA Cup as his beloved Derby County and the biennial contest has given him as many highs and lows as the Rams. His best moment was the historic victory in 2005 at The K Club when GB&I reclaimed the Llandudno Trophy for the first time in 21 years. During that event he bagged four points out of four with partner Simon Edwards.
His worst probably came at Reynolds Plantation when he halved his singles with Ryan Benzel, when he was three up with three to play but was pegged back for what turned out to be the crucial half point for the USA to regain the trophy.
Incredibly consistent, Wesselingh enjoys a superb record in the flagship PGA Professional Championship which he won in 2006. He has also been runner-up on three occasions. Other achievements include three Open Championship appearances plus seven visits to Wentworth for the BMW PGA Championship.
In 2002 he was crowned European Club Professional Champion and was runner up in 2004. A year later he won Europe's biggest pro-am - the PGA National Pro-Am Championship - and in 2008 won the Midland Invitational. In 1999 he was Midland Order of Merit winner and PGA North Region champion in 1994. He has six aces to his name.
Football aside, his other interests include swimming and Tai Kwon Do where he is a second dan black belt.
